Two undefeated seasons for both champions. The Maraudeurs’ repeated and the Blizzard won their second in the last five years!

Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard LB #34 Étienne Amiot
École Sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups (5-3) vs Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard (8-0) With a perfect season on the line and the bad taste of last year’s loss to Notre-Dame in the final still present, the favourites, Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard had so much to lose. Curé-Antoine-Labelle scored first, shaking the division champs, with SSF leading 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. The following minutes would be tough for the Loups, even though they intercepted Latulippe twice at the end of the second quarter, they were not able to benefit from the turnovers and score any points. The first half ended at 30-13 and there was no possibility for a potential comeback whatsoever after the break. The mighty Blizzard offence, propelled by the all-star RB, Kalenga Muganda, who finished with 255 yards on 33 carries and 4 touchdowns, directed by QB Raphael Latulippe, who completed 15 out of 23 for 269 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, dominated on almost every drive, punting only twice in the game. Not to forget the offensive line that opened the holes, for whomever was running with the ball, protected Latulippe, and which was dominant all year. Kalenga was rewarded with the MVP nomination for his outstanding performance.

Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups QB #3 Xavier Tremblay
The Curé-Antoine-Labelle offence, commanded by QB Xavier Tremblay who finished with 20 out of 30 for 285 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception, was able to move the ball and surprised their opponents. But the 2 fumbles near the pay zone in the second quarter, stopped them right in their tracks. The Blizzard defence led by LB Étienne Amiot, who delivered 3 solo tackles, adjusted in the second half and managed to keep their offence on the field, thus remaining undefeated. A perfect season that ends with a 51-23 win and brings the cup back home for the fifth time. “This is the best team I’ve coached, that I’ve ever seen in the whole province of Québec!” said the Séminaire Saint-François head-coach, Luc Savoie. In their quest for the #1 spot on the #CFC50 ranking, Savoie mentioned how cool headed his players remained, having dominated during the regular season, it would have been easy to wander astray and be over confident. The Blizzard have produced a spectacular 10-0 season, dominating in all categories, and becoming the 2016 Juvénile division 1 Champs.

Collège Laval Maraudeurs LB #52 Liam Weber-Sadler
É. Sec. Armand-Corbeil Scorpions (7-1) vs Collège Laval Maraudeurs (8-0) The defending champs, Maraudeurs, were undefeated and favourite entering this game. Their pivot, QB Jonathan Sénécal, could seal the repeat if he could manage the ball well. The weather was alright, but the Scorpions made it tough for the gunslinger from the get go, intercepting Sénécal twice in the first quarter.

Collège Laval Maraudeurs QB #2 Jonathan Sénécal
Armand-Corbeil limited Sénécal to 13 completions in 28 attempts for a mere 183 yards and 1 touchdown. Having affected the senior QB with a total of 3 interceptions, the Scorpions kept bringing the pressure and Sénécal had to rely on the running game, which he inflicted 61 rushing yards himself, and mainly the defence to stop Armand-Corbeil from scoring.

Armand-Corbeil Scorpions RB #22 Danté Tortoricci
The Laval defence did what was needed and kept the Scorpions power running game, led by RB Danté Tortoricci, who rushed for 158 yards, and the slasher QB/RB Justin Leduc, to a minimal 175 yards, but most importantly, away from the end zone. The Laval LB’s, Liam Weber-Sadler and Jérémie Racine, combined for a total of 18 tackles, while DL Marc-Olivier Gascon registered 2 sacks and 5.5 tackles.

Armand-Corbeil Scorpions QB #4 Justin Leduc
The dual-threat Leduc, who completed 9 out of 20 for 130 yards, 1 interception, could only deliver a passing major. The Collège Laval Maraudeurs repeat, thanks to an outstanding performance from their defence and are the 2016 Juvénile division 1b Bol D’Or champions.
