Académie Les Estacades Aigles (2-6) vs Collège Notre-Dame Cactus (7-1) The Aigles did compete and with the worst offence, they were able to score 14 points against the second best defence and manage to make this a close game. The Notre-Dame defence had to step up, and they did by piling up 3 sacks and 2 picks to keep their offence on the field. The Cactus running game, did the rest. The offensive line and RB Théodore Seaborn racked up 177 yards on 30 carries and 2 touchdowns to conquer Les Estacades 21-14 and proceed to the semifinals.

Collège Jean-Eudes Aigles (3-5) vs École Sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups (5-3) The Jean-Eudes Aigles had no chance against the hungry Loups. The Curé-Antoine-Labelle QB, Xavier Tremblay, was almost immaculate in completing 14 out of 20 for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tremblay managed the ball safely by distributing it to 6 different receivers and RB, Anthony Renault, busted 5 carries for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Curé-Antoine-Labelle defence, ranked third in points against, made the difference by stopping QB Arnaud Desjardins, sacking the pivot 10 times, and limiting them to 1 major. With this convincing 49-7 win, the Loups move on to the semifinals and will visit the Notre-Dame Cactus on Saturday.

Collège Charles-Lemoyne Dynamiques (3-5) vs É. Sec. Armand-Corbeil Scorpions (7-1) The Dynamiques QB/RB, Gabriel Cyr-Dandurand, and the rest of the Charles-Lemoyne team almost pulled it off. The Scorpions’ defence, their weak link, was manipulated by Cyr-Dandurand who completed 11 out of 24 for 103 yards and rushing for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Dynamiques defence did not stop the Armand-Corbeil offence, who compiled a whopping 653 yards including 435 yards on the ground, but kept them from piling up too many points. But the heavy loaded Scorpions’ offensive machine, including QB Justin Leduc, who completed 15 out of 19 for 218 yards, 1 touchdown and rushed for 67 yards, produced a 30-28 victory to propel them to the semifinals.

École Sec. Pointe-Lévy Corsaires (3-5) vs Séminaire Saint-Joseph Vert et Or (5-3) The Gold and Green defence could not stop the Corsaires’ QB/RB Adrien Guay, who almost produced the upset. The rushing performance of the Vert et Or, a combined total of 315 yards, provided the asset of managing the clock and 3 touchdowns. The Saint-Joseph QB/RB Charles Cossette, only attempted 10 passes which he completed 5 for 36 yards and a major, but the mistake free pivot relied on the efficiency of RB Philippe Morin who racked up 157 yards on 20 carries to sink the Corsaires’ ship 36-30 and pass to the next round.

École Sec. Saint-Stanislas Patriotes (4-4) vs Collège de Lévis Commandeurs (5-3) This was another close one, and the Patriotes end up on the losing end again. The Saint-Stanislas QB, Félix Marsolais, completed 6 out of 12 for 125 yards, 1 touchdown, threw 4 interceptions and was brought down twice. Their running game did alright with RB, Yves-Christian Bararuhanya, who rushed for 116 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown. But the turnovers are devastating in a playoff game and especially when it’s against a same caliber team. The Lévis QB, Tristan Blais, did throw an interception, but he completed 8 out of 27 for 198 yards, 1 touchdown and rushed for 47 yards, which helped the number 3 ranked RB Gabriel Leblond, rush for 96 yards on 19 carries. The Lévis defence, commanded by DE Vincent Michaud, who had 1 sack during the bout, had the impact predicted and they came out with a 21-13 win to extend their season one more game.
