We will be covering the #CFC50 PLAYOFF GAMES for the West and Atlantic regions. While this will be generally geared towards the #CFC50 ranked teams, we want to hear from you if there are great rivalry games or exciting matchups, regardless of tier or division, that we aren’t aware of. Send us a ‘heads up’ by Tuesday each week and we’ll see what we can do: [email protected].

No. 2 Bev Facey Falcons (9-0, 2-0) vs. Bellerose Bulldogs
Sat., Nov. 12 – 2:30 p.m., Foote Field (Edmonton) (courtesy: Football Alberta)
Here come the Bulldogs! It’s been since 1997 that representatives from Bellerose have advanced to Provincial play. Back then they were a super team combination of all three high schools in St. Albert and went to the Provincial Final only to be thrashed 39-0 by the Brock and Brett Ralph led Raymond Comets. Now they’re back yet find themselves facing another well-known name in Alberta High School football lore in Chuba Hubbard of the Bev Facey Falcons. Since starting the season 1-3 the Bulldogs have gone 4-1 since the end of September so are in a good place right now. The Falcons do have arguably the top recruit in Canada with Mr. Hubbard but also have a supporting cast of stars who can beat you on their own with or without him. They’ve won their last two playoff games by a combined score of 76-0 so seem to be peaking at the right time. It’s been a long time since these two teams played in the regular season as the Falcons prevailed 34-1 over the Bulldogs on Sept. 2, but playoffs are a different time of year so we’ll see this Saturday.

No. 5 Leboldus Golden Suns (7-0, 1-0) vs. No. 30 Holy Cross Crusaders (7-1, 1-0)
4A Twelve Man Provincial Football Championship – Saturday, Nov. 12 – 1:30 p.m., Saskatoon Minor Football Field
Holy Cross played tough all season to make it to this point. It could have very well been Centennial that we were talking about, but the Crusaders managed to beat out their worthy opponent and will now have to muster everything they’ve got to meet the machine in the Leboldus Golden Suns. We mentioned in our pre-amble that most of these matches are David vs. Goliath. This does not ring more true then now. And we hope Cinderella is in the building because that would just about be the upset of the season. Regardless, we wish both teams good luck as every athlete has worked hard to get to this point.
2016 ANAVETS Bowl will be streamed Live
on The Cube, Thursday, Nov 10, 7:30 pm!https://t.co/fcJTuQALWB@The_WHSFL@icvmcwpg@chatfootball pic.twitter.com/mFWUSJlfUI— VMC Trojans Football (@VMCTrojansFball) November 8, 2016
No. 7 St. Paul’s Crusaders (9-0, 0-1) vs. No. 14 Vincent Massey Trojans (8-1, 1-0)
Anavet Bowl Championship – Thursday, Nov. 10 – 7:30 p.m., Investors Group Field
It almost feels like Christmas! The matchup that we have been building up to all season long. These two paths crossed in week one where the Trojans were the handed their only loss of 21-20 to the Crusaders. And here we are again. Last year, the Crusaders lost the championship game to the Trojans 22-12. They will be hungry to avenge that loss. If the Crusaders win this one, it will be their 14th Varsity Championship. No doubt both teams will be playing their hearts out come Thursday night. CFC will be holding our breath. Good luck to both programs!
*for those fans who can’t make it out to Investors Group Field on Wednesday and Thursday, take note: all the games will be streamed at http://www.lrsd.tv/lrsd.tv/
No. 8 Terry Fox Ravens (7-0, 0-2)
First round playoff bye
No. 9 Henry Wise Wood Warriors (6-1, 0-1) vs. No. 37 Raymond Comets (5-1, 0-2)
Saturday. Nov. 12 – 1:00 p.m., Comet Stadium (Raymond) (courtesy: Football Alberta)
Big year for the Comets! New stadium and a big win over LCI last week gets them the right to host a Provincial game there as well. As for their opponents, well, after experiencing the meat grinder of Calgary Division I playoffs only to be on the outside looking in after their 13-0 loss to Notre Dame on Monday, the Henry Wise Wood Warriors live to fight another day as Calgary’s third seed into Tier I. The team that beat the then #CFC50 No. 1 ranked St. Francis Browns on October 21, now has four days to regroup before taking on the proud Comets in the Home of Friday Night Lights in Alberta….on Saturday.
The Finals are set! Come cheer on your Sr Football Browns at 5:00 pm Saturday, as they take on @NDHSCCSD! It's gonna be good! #GoBrownsGo ?

No. 12 St. Francis Browns (6-1, 1-0) vs. No. 41 Notre Dame Pride (6-2, 0-1)
Saturday. Nov. 12 – 6:00 p.m., McMahon Stadium (Calgary) (courtesy: Football Alberta)
The more things change the more they stay the same. After two seismic upsets on October 21 which saw both of these powerhouses lose on the same day to Centennial (28-0 win over ND) and Henry Wise Wood (28-16 win over St. Francis) it was thought there may be a changing of the guard in Calgary Division I. Well, not so much as the Calgary Division I Final, which also serves as a Provincial Tier I quarterfinal game, will once again see these two teams back at it again. Every game between these two teams over the past three years have been classics and there is no reason to believe this won’t be as well. Due to the anticipated crowd the game has been moved from Shouldice Park to McMahon Stadium.
No. 22 Notre Dame Jugglers (5-1, 2-1)
Wildcard playoff bye

No. 29 South Delta Sun Devils (4-2, 2-0) vs. Handsworth Royals (3-0)
Wildcard playoff round – Friday, Nov. 11 – 1:00pm, McLeod Athletic Park
An undefeated Handsworth will take the field against the South Delta Sun Devils in the wild card round of the playoffs. The Royals will get a rude introduction to how things go in the AAA Western conference. This game will be difficult for the Royals to stay in. Look for the surging Devils to score early and often and put this one away before halftime.
No. 31 Tantramar Regional Titans (9-0) vs. Leo Hayes (5-0)
AAA 12 A-Side Championship – Saturday, Nov. 12 – 2:00 p.m., Highest SW Scotia North
We are excited for this matchup because we have only seen blowouts all year from Tantramar. When looking closer at their opponent, the Western division champion, Leo Hayes, we see that as well as being undefeated this season, they, too, have averaged 30+ points on their opponents save one. From the looks of it, both teams like to beat up their opponents badly or as it is being called, “smash mouth” football. We will no doubt see #CFC100 RB Aidan O’Neal rush for a million yards with 10 touchdowns…..or maybe not if the Hayes squad has anything to say about it. This will be home field advantage for Leo Hayes and they won’t want to disappoint their fans or themselves. Both teams have had exceptional seasons with some amazing football having been played. CFC is excited for this one and we congratulate both teams in advance.

No. 33 Harry Ainlay Titans (8-1, 1-0) vs. Notre Dame Cougars
Sat. Nov. 12 – 4:00 p.m., MEGlobal Athletic Park (Lacombe) (courtesy: Football Alberta)
Will this be the year? Speaking of long absences (see Bellerose above), it’s been 21 seasons since a Tier I sized school from Central Alberta made it out of the first round of Provincials. This year’s Central Alberta Champion Notre Dame Cougars from Red Deer have a chance. Powered by a strong offensive attack and solid defence, the Cougars dropped only one game this year mid-season but have cruised ever since. Facing them are the powerful Harry Ainlay Titans. Their only loss of the season came in their last regular season game to the #CFC50 No. 2 ranked Bev Facey Falcons. Otherwise they’ve handled everyone else quite easily. Still, there is something in the air in Central Alberta these days, so the chance for Red Deer’s Cougars to break through to the next round are the best they’ve been in a while and on the artificial turf in Lacombe it might be the fast track they are looking for.
No. 35 Cobequid Ed. Centre Cougars (9-1) vs. Sir John A MacDonald Flames (7-1)
Saturday November 12 -7:00 p.m., Mainland Common (semi-final)
The Cougars have been strong all season as represented in their 9-1 record, but they aren’t out of the woods just yet. The Flames have also had a strong season and have some weapons that have been firing on all cylinders, particular, RB/LB Adam Bennett who we hear has been stellar all season. Both teams will have to put everything in the tank through the engine if they wish to carry on to the championship game. They will have to face the winner of the other semi-final game, Citadel vs. CP Allen that plays on the 13th at 1pm. Regardless, these four teams have been going neck and neck all season long. It’s anyone’s ball game!
No. 38 New Westminster Hyacks (4-2, 2-1) vs. Mt. Boucherie Bears (3-4)
Wildcard playoff round – Friday, Nov. 11 – 7:30 p.m., Mercer Stadium
Mt. Boucherie will travel to New West for a Friday night against a Hyack team who is looking to rebound following a disappointing effort at South Delta last weekend. The Bears will look to recapture some of the magic they used two years ago to upset the Junior Hyacks in New West. This game will be decided on the ground. If New West runs the ball effectively, the Bears will have a hard time staying with the Hyacks.
No. 39 Vancouver College Fighting Irish (3-3, 2-1) vs. St. Thomas More Knights (4-3)
Wildcard playoff round – Friday, Nov. 11 – 7:30 p.m., Burnaby Lakes
For the first time in recent memory, all three catholic private schools ended up in the same playoff bracket. Can the improving STM Knights surprise and Irish team that has had a tough regular season or will the playoffs awaken the beast known as Vancouver College and they get back to their winning ways. Either way whoever wins this game will take on the number 1 seed, Notre Dame.
