Scott Mitchell is projected by the CFL scouting bureau as the #1 draft prospect in 2011. Scott was primarily a Defensive Lineman in high school and for Team Ontario and Team Canada (Global Junior tournament) before making the switch to Offensive Line at Rice University. When CFC interviewed Scott last fall he had this advice for Canadian players:
“Keep working hard, only you can control your mind heart and soul. Put everything you have into it. Get in the weight room, get on the track, and go out to camps. Take coaching points well and be consistent and don’t burn bridges.”

At Rice Scott was a fixture at left tackle starting since midway through the 2007 season where he made 38 consecutive starts before an injury ended his Rice career in 2010. In 2009 was a second-team All Conference-USA. In his sophmore season he started all 13 games and in the final regular season game held Conference USA defensive player of the year and future NFLer and CFLer Philip Hunt to just one tackle and one sack (on the last play of the first half).
