Quarterback Jeremi Roch was one of the main architects of the victory by completing 23 of 30 passes, connected with eight different receivers and that led to two touchdowns. The student-athlete, who is completing the Masters in Electronic Commerce also accumulated 291 passing yards and also carried the ball twice to gain 17 yards.

Highlights
The McGill Redmen only gave up just three points to their opponents, the Bishop’s Gaiters in a 10-3 victory last Friday at Percival Molson Stadium. Linebacker Karl Forgues blocked the road of his opponents on several occasions by registering eight solo tackles and seven assisted tackles for a total of 11.5 including two quarterback sacks. The physical education student who is in his second year of eligibility also caused a turnaround.

In the very last play of the game between the Carabins and Rouge et Or, freshman student-athlete Dominic Lévesque sealed the victory at Laval University Saturday night by completing a 39-yard field goal. Given their great rivalry with the Carains, the kicker studying in physical education and health averaged 40.6 yards on his nine punts and an average of 61 yards on two kickoffs against the Carabins

Vieira, Parisotto & Ferraro named OUA Players of the Week
BURLINGTON, Ont. – The following athletes have been named Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Football Players of the Week for the period ending September 8, 2015.
OFFENCE: Bryce Vieira (Montreal, Que.) – 2nd yr. – Ottawa
There was no slowing down Ottawa Gee-Gees running back Bryce Vieira (Montreal, Que.) on Sunday, as the ‘Garnet and Grey’ opened their season with a big home win against the Queen’s Gaels.
Vieira had 17 rushes for 110 rushing yards as the Gee-Gees handled the Gaels 41-17.
The second-year Theatre student-athlete was just as dangerous catching the ball as he was rushing it, hauling in five receptions for 93 yards. Vieira finished the day with 210 all-purpose yards in the victory.
Vieira burst onto the scene last season for the Gee-Gees and finished seventh in OUA in rushing with 589 yards.
The Gee-Gees travel to the Steel City on Saturday for a showdown against the defending Yates Cup champions, the McMaster Marauders, at 1:00 p.m.
DEFENCE: Nick Parisotto (Guelph, Ont.) – 2nd yr. – Guelph
Defensive back Nick Parisotto (Guelph, Ont.) recorded two late red zone interceptions to help the Guelph Gryphons preserve a 30-19 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Labour Day.
With the Golden Hawks driving late in the fourth quarter, Parisotto thwarted back-to-back drives, picking off Laurier quarterback James Fracas to seal the win for the Gryphons.
The second-year Leadership and Organizational Management student-athlete was all over the field on Monday, recording three solo and seven assisted tackles.
Last season as rookie, Parisotto finished tied for second in the conference with four interceptions during the regular season.
On Saturday, the Gryphons head to York Stadium to take on the Lions at 1:00pm.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Gabriel Ferraro (Mississauga, Ont.) – 2nd yr. – Guelph
Kicker/punter Gabe Ferraro (Mississauga, Ont.) helped the Guelph Gryphons improve to 2-0 on the season in a 30-19 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Labour Day.
The second-year student-athlete was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals, connecting from 25, 42, 13, and 27 yards. He also tacked on two PATs to finish the afternoon with a game-high 14 points.
Ferraro, who also handles the kickoff and punting duties for the Gryphons, averaged 62 yards on kickoffs and 39 yards per punt.
In two games this season, the Mississauga native is tied with Western’s Ben Kelly for the conference lead with five field goals.

Lyles shines in Canada West debut
Manitoba Bisons rookie running back Jamel Lyles (offence), along with UBC linebacker Mitch Barnett (defence), and Calgary Dino return man Michael Klukas (special teams) are the Canada West football players of the week.

Lyles earned offensive player of the week honours after racking up an impressive 155 yards rushing and a touchdown in his Canadian Interuniversity Sport debut. The Surrey, BC product helped lead the No. 10 ranked Manitoba Bisons to a 34-28 road victory over the No. 8 ranked Saskatchewan Huskies.
In addition to Lyles impressive 14.1 yard average per carry on the ground, he also added 89 punt return yards, and six receiving yards for a total of 250 all-purpose yards to lead the conference in that category.
Mitch Barnett, UBC Thunderbirds, Defence
Despite falling to the Calgary Dinos 49-16 on the road, the UBC Thunderbirds got a big individual defensive effort from fourth-year linebacker Mitch Barnett over the weekend.
The veteran had 8.5 tackles on the night, along with three sacks – one off the UBC single game record. Barnett’s trio of sacks was the most in the conference Week 1, with nine Canada West players recording a single sack to open the season.
Michael Klukas, Calgary Dinos, Special Teams
Third-year receiver Michael Klukas made his presence known in the 2015 season opener, but it wasn’t on the receiving end of an Andrew Buckley pass.
Klukas’ third quarter punt return for a touchdown went for 110 yards, to put Calgary up 32-14.
The return was the Dinos’ longest in more than 40 years, and the second-longest in school history.
