The CJFL announces the Big Kahuna Players of the Week for Week 2 of the BCFC season.
Running Back – #3 Nathan Berg – Vancouver Island Raiders
The VI Raiders have had some outstanding running backs since their birth in 2005, including Andrew Harris. However Nathan Berg did something no other Raider has done before; carry the ball 34 times in a single game. The Nanaimo product set a new Raiders’ record for carries in a single game and gathered a Conference high 198 yards and had a touchdown. His team record setting performance names him the BC Lions Offensive Player of the Week.
Defensive Lineman – #65 Alex Agnoletto – Langley Rams
For the first time since the 2011 season the Langley Rams visited the high flying offence of the Kamloops Broncos. It was the Rams “D” that would slow the Broncos led by the BC Lions Defensive Player of the Week Alex Agnoletto. The veteran tallied eight solo tackles and a sack as the Rams recorded their first win of the campaign.
Kicker – #39 Brian Hope – Langley Rams
A key component to the Rams’ first win of the season was play of the special teams, specifically kicker Brian Hope, the BC Lions Special Teams Player of the Week. Hope scored seven of the Rams 25 points, connecting on a 27 yard field goal, all three converts and a single. When the Rams drive stalled Hope punted nine times, averaging 36.5 yards a boot. He also kicked off five times and averaged 48.6 yards a kick.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
