CJFL Outstanding Offensive Player of theWeek
Jay Smith – Receiver – Regina Thunder
The veteran receiver and Queen City product is part of a group that is arguably the best in
the PFC at this point in the season. In Regina’s 48-23 win over Saskatoon, he showed one
more time why this group is feared. Smith would have 9 catches for 132 yards in the win, 3
of those were major scores of 25, 5 and 15 yards. Smith currently sits 2nd in the conference
in receiving with 22 catches for 293 yards and 5 touchdowns.
CJFL Outstanding Defensive Player of theWeek
Lusson Pierre – Defensiveback – St Leonard Cougars
Lusson captured the defensive award this week as the Cougars defeated the Brampton
Bears 24-2. He was literally all over the field as he was credited with 22 defensive
points over 5 categories. He had 4 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, a blocked kick, a
fumble recovery and an interception he returned 10 yards.
CJFL Outstanding Special Teams Player of theWeek
Doug Long – Returner – Calgary Colts
The 2nd-year product of Calgary’s Bowness High School had a busy day in Sunday’s 40-30
home opening win against the PFC champion Edmonton Wildcats. He would return 10 Wildcat
punts for 116 yards, one of those being a 68-yard first quarter touchdown to give the Colts a 10-point lead. Long would also return a pair of kickoffs for a total of 31 yards.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
