Among other notable achievements include being selected to participate in the Ed Henwick Senior Bowl all-star game and playing in the 2008 Football Canada Cup as a member of Team Saskatchewan.

For the past four years, Richard has suited up for the Saskatoon Hilltops of the Prairie Football Conference (PFC) of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). During his time with the Hilltops, the standout was the league’s top rookie of the year. Furthermore, he was selected to the league’s all-star team this past season. The Hilltops offensive lineman experienced the highlight of his young football career when the team won two consecutive CJFL championships (2010, 2011).

Now that he has finished his junior career with the Hilltops, Richard’s focus turns to his upcoming career with the University of Saskatchewan. Recently, he committed to the school in his native province.

“My commitment was based on the program, school, and the opportunity to live in Saskatoon,” adds the future Huskies player of the factors in his decision. “As a kid, I grew up cheering for the Huskies and after going to their spring camp, I got a more in depth look at their program and really liked the tradition and integrity of the program.”

While he is certain of academic goals, Richard is not sure of how his future will unfold.

“My future plan is to get into education at the University of Saskatchewan,” comments the Hilltops linebacker. “I try not to plan to far ahead because you never know what doors life will open for you.”

Overall, the gridiron has given him an education has he would not receive otherwise through any environment.

“Football has taught me many things about life,” says Richard. “Some things that come to mind is perseverance, discipline, to be passionate, and how important your teammates and family really are.”
