Among the teams Drew has suited up for include the Okanagan Sun of the British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) and the Saskatoon Aden Bowman Collegiate Bears of the Saskatoon Secondary School Athletic Directorate (SSSAD).
During his time with the Bears, the offensive lineman says he experienced some thrilling, yet exciting moments of his career.
“I probably would have to go all the way back to high school and winning championships every year,” explains Drew. “Nothing beats the feeling of being number one.”
For his exceptional play on the field for the past couple of years, Drew has been recognized for his talents. The Sun’s standout was a Canadian Junior Football League all-Canadian in 2010 and a BCFC all-star selection twice (2010, 2011).
Next season, Drew will enter the university ranks as he’s recently committed to the University of Saskatchewan. There were many reasons why he chose the school.
“I picked Saskatchewan because they have a history of being a good football team, and a good school,” comments the future Huskies player. “It is also in my hometown and it will be special to play in front of all my family and friends.”
In football, Drew credits his teammates and coaches for influencing him into becoming the player he is today. However, the offensive lineman says that his parents are the steady influence in his life.
At the present moment, Drew’s focus is on his upcoming academic and football life at the University of Saskatchewan.
“Ultimately, the goal is to play football for as long as possible, but career path is yet to be decided,” adds the Sun’s standout, who loves dogs.
When he steps foot onto the campus this fall, Drew continue to use the skills he’s learned in football to net further success in all his endeavours.
“I have learned how to be a team player and not have a “me” first mentality,” says Drew.
