
Today, CFC shines the spotlight on Class 2012 defensive end and recent University of British Columbia commit, Travis MacDonald. Travis began his football career in the seventh grade.

Among the teams Travis has played for include the South Delta Rams and his high school team, the South Delta Sun Devils. Recognized for his stellar defensive play,the Sun Devils standout has been awarded with many honours. Those honours include team most inspirational player (2010), team rookie of the year (2010), top team defensive lineman (2011), and Western all-star team selection (2011).
In July 2011, Travis experienced the highlight of his young football career in Lethbridge, Alberta.
“My most memorable football experience would be participating with the best in the country at the 2011 Football Canada Cup representing British Columbia and winning the bronze medal,” explains the Sun Devils standout. “It really showed me what the next level is like, the higher level of competition and it was very fun.”
Next season will mark the next chapter in Travis’ life on and off the field. Recently, he committed to the University of British Columbia (UBC).
“I chose UBC because of what Coach Olson is doing with the program and the direction he is taking it in,” adds the future Thunderbirds player.
There are many individuals Travis credits for guiding him into becoming the player and person he is today. Those individuals are his parents, former coach and friends.
When he steps onto the UBC campus, the defensive star plans to enroll in the arts. Moreover, there are three potential career paths he is considering: kinesiology, resource conversation and architecture.
As he embarks on the new phase of his life, Travis will continue to use what’s he learned from the gridiron with the hopes of achieving more feats in the future.
“What I have learned from football would be teamwork, leadership, determination and work ethic,” comments Travis. “All things are applicable to succeed in the real world, whether it is school, sport or career.”
