During his nine year gridiron career, Troy has excelled as a lineman while playing for the Edmonton Seahawks, the Calgary Bulldogs and his high school team, the Henry Wise Wood Warriors.

Additionally, the standout has been selected to play in the Bantam Bowl team and the South Team that participated in the Senior Bowl high school football all-star game. Most recently, Troy was selected as amember of Team Alberta that will participate in the Football Canada Cup this upcoming July in London, Ontario.

Troy has been top lineman on three occasions with the Bulldogs to go along with team MVP honours. As a member of the Warriors, he’s received two top lineman awards (one with junior team and one with senior team).

During his time with the Bulldogs, the lineman experienced one of the main highlights of his gridiron career.

“My most memorable experience was winning it and provincial championships with the Bulldogs during my peewee season in 2007,” adds Troy.

This fall, Troy will continue his gridiron career at the University of Calgary. He committed to the school based on the strength and reputation of the football program.

“I picked University of Calgary because of its strong team working skills, prestigious talent, and intensity during practice and games,” explains the future Dinos player of his decision. “The factors leading to my decision include that I will still be able to live in Calgary, and I’ve always had an interest in the Dinos.”

In football, Troy has been fortunate to have great coaches who’ve taken the time in developing him the player he is today. It also helps that he has peers who make the gridiron experience worthwhile.

“Coach Cody Ehrmann from Henry Wise Wood and Coach Brian McCorquodale have helped me develop my skills, intensity, worth ethic and helped to realize my potential,” says the Warriors lineman. “I enjoy spending time with all my peers, and especially Liam Asuchak, a fellow Bulldog/Warrior who I have played with a majority of my seasons with.”

However, there are two special individuals who have been his main life influences.

“The most influential people in life are my brother Torin and my mother Michelle,” comments Troy. “Without them, I would have never started football and their support has helped me through numerous conflicts.”

Academically, the student athlete would like study criminology with the hopes of obtaining a degree in the field. Ultimately, he would like to pursue a career either as a police officer, firefighter or teacher.

There are three things Troy has learned from the game of football which he hopes will ultimately lead to more success down the road at the University of Calgary.

“My teamworking skills, my cooperation with any individuals, and my strong work ethic are things I have learned,” says Troy.
