Class 2013: Mathieu Hébert, REC/K, Sherbrooke Volontaires / Team Quebec


Today CFC features class 2013 receiver / kicker Mathieu Hebert from Sherbrooke, Quebec. Mathieu has had lots of early football success including 2 gold medals at the Bol d’or and 1 silver medal at the Football Canada Cup.

Mathieu started playing football in high school with the Aigles College Jean-Eudes and won the Bol d’or in 2009. In 2008 he played in the Wilson Challenge for Estrie centre du Québec (4th place). In 2010 Mathieu played for Team Quebec who won the silver medal at the Football Canada Cup in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. That same year Mathieu began his CEGEP career with the Sherbrooke Volontaires. Another year, another Bol d’or gold medal for Mathieu, as his team defeated Notre-Dame-de-Foy 28 to 21 in the final.

Mathieu’s top football experience was the 2010 Football Canada Cup. “Playing for Team Quebec in 2010 was a great experience that helped me improve my football skills.”

Coaches that have helped Mathieu along the way include ” First of all, Clovis Langlois who I started with. He showed me how to play the game instilled my love of football. Second, Mathieu Lefaivre was my coach for two years, and was a coach who showed me discipline, training, structure, and how to learn the playbook. On Team Quebec, David Lessard helped me learn the details of receiver and offensive football.”
