Receiver James Fioroni of the CIS No. 9-ranked Acadia Axemen is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 21st, 2012.
Fioroni, a 6-foot-2 first-year player from Guelph, Ont., had four receptions for 65 yards and scored the lone TD in Acadia 12-5 home win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies this past weekend in Wolfville, N.S.
Trailing 3-0 late in the third quarter, Acadia quarterback Kyle Graves found Fioroni with an 18-yard pass for a touchdown to give the first place Axemen a lead they would not relinquish.
James, who now has 12 catches for 219 yards in six games played, leads the AUS with an average of 18.2 yards per reception. He is also tied for the conference lead in TD receptions with three.
Defensive Player of the Week

Mount Allison linebacker Justin Richard is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 21st, 2012.
Richard, a fifth-year student from Sackville, N.B., recorded 6.5 tackles this past weekend, including 1.5 tackles for six yards in losses and added a 19-yard interception return as the Mounties clinched a playoff berth with a 29-16 win over the StFX X-Men in Antigonish, N.S.
The interception was the second of the season for Justin, who is currently ranked second in the conference in tackles with 46.5 through seven games.
Richard led the league in tackles in 2011 with 48.5 and now has 109.0 career tackles with one regular season game remaining.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Donovan Saunders
Mount Allison University

Kick returner Donovan Saunders of the Mount Allison Mounties is the Atlantic University Sport Special Teams Player of the Week.
Saunders, a second-year Sociology student from Hamilton, Ont., returned nine punts for 160 yards, including an impressive 83-yard punt return for a touchdown late in the first quarter of Saturday’s 29-16 road victory over the StFX X-Men.
The touchdown gave the Mounties a 21-4 and is just the second punt return for a score in the conference this season.
Saunders, who now leads the AUS conference with an average of 12.9 yards per punt return, also recorded 2.5 tackles in the victory.
