As we approach the kickoff of the Football Canada Cup, CFC continues its look at the quarterbacks from the participating provincial teams.  In this segment, the spotlight is on Team Alberta and Manitoba pivots.

Team Alberta:

Boston Rowe:
With a wealth of experience, Boston is a seasoned quarterback.  He began his football career in 2006.  Over the course of his career, the young pivot has played with the Calgary Mavericks football organization at the peewee, bantam and midget levels.  Most recently, Boston has suited up for his high school team, the St. Francis Browns of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA).

As a result of exceptional play throughout his career, Boston has been selected to the Bantam Select all-star team (2010).  He was a Bantam all-star (2010), a Calgary high school all-star (2011) and a two time Calgary midget all-star (2011, 2012). Moreover, he won a Calgary City Midget Championship title with his team in 2012.

Ultimately, Boston is honoured to be a part of Team Alberta.

“It means a lot to represent Alberta knowing the history of how successful Alberta has been,” comments the Team Alberta pivot. “It’s exciting to be a part of it while trying to carry out that success.”

“Playing on this team means that I’m playing with great players and coaches while playing against some of the best players in the country. That kind of elite level competition is very exciting and I want to use this opportunity to make me become better in all aspects of the game.”

Chris began his football career at the age of eight, when he suited up for the Calgary Wildcats club team.  Among the other teams the Alberta pivot has suited up for include the Calgary Falcons and his high school team, the Western Canada Redmen.  While he played midget last spring, Chris put up impressive statistics on the field as he has 63 completions in 117 attempts, 1235 passing yards (average of 190 yards per game) and six passing touchdowns while rushing for 206 yards with 12 rushing touchdowns.

Chris has been the recipient of many awards and honours during his gridiron career.  Among the honours include Western Canada High School Male Athlete of the Year two consecutive times, Redmen junior team MVP in 2011 and Falcons midget team MVP in 2012.  Additionally, the quarterback has excelled not only on the field but in the classroom as he`s been on Western Canada High School`s Honours Society for two consecutive years (grade 10 and 11) for outstanding academic achievement with all marks being over 80 percent.

Making Team Alberta is a significant accomplishment for Chris and he is looking forward to seizing the opportunity to represent his hometown province on the national stage.

“I am very proud to represent such an amazing province and throughout my football career I have been cut from every all-star team that I have tried out for and to finally get the opportunity to prove I am a good player means a lot,” says Chris.  “I have used getting cut as a source of fuel to drive myself to work harder and get better every day and now it is finally paying off.”

“I am playing on a team with an awesome coaching staff and an amazing group of guys who I am very proud to be part of a team with. Hopefully we can come together and prove we are one of the top football provinces in Canada!”
