Sherwood Park pivot joins CWUAA team’s 2015 class.
Reggie Schoeppe is going to follow in his father’s footsteps.
With his recent commitment to the University of Alberta Golden Bears, the 6’1, 185 pound quarterback from Sherwood Park, Alberta will realize his childhood dream and continue a family legacy.
“The University of Alberta has been the team I’ve grown up watching and that’s where my father played (Russell Schoeppe, Linebacker) as well,” recalled Schoeppe. “When I met with Coach [Chris] Morris, it was nearly impossible to say no.”
“The team he’s building and the plans he has for the program are going to take it to the top is something I really wanted to be a part of.”
Furthermore, there were a couple of additional factors that tipped the scale towards the Golden Bears.
“One of the main things that excited me was the dedication and amount of work you have to put in,” expressed the Alberta pivot. “The mandatory study sessions showed me that they also really care about our education as well.”
“Also I’ve been in a few camps with their Offensive Coordinator Rick Walters and really like him as a coach and playing for him will be great. Lastly, lots of my friends are there and it’s a place that feels like home.
Currently, Schoeppe is playing his senior season for the Salisbury Sabres of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA). In addition to the Sabres, the pivot has previously suited up for the Sherwood Park Rams, Sherwood Park Raiders and Sherwood Park Broncos.
