The winner of this game will advance to the AFL championship game on November 3rd. The site of the championship game will be determined by the outcome of the two semi-final games. If Holland College beats Dalhousie and the UNB Saint John Seawolves defeat the UNB Fredericton Red Bombers in the other semi-final matchup, then Holland College would host the AFL championship game. If the Red Bombers defeat the Seawolves, the Red Bombers will host the championship game in Fredericton against the winner of the Dalhousie-Holland College game.
Hurricanes head coach Mark MacDougall said the players are looking forward to the game on Saturday.
“This is the most important game of the year for us, no doubt about it. Dalhousie is coming off a big win last week in Fredericton, so we expect they will be pumped for this game, too,” he said.
This late in the season, both teams are dealing with injuries. MacDougall said that the Hurricanes are counting on the depth of their roster to take the team to the title match. “We are looking to every single player to do what needs to be done – that’s why we put in the work all season, for the chance to play for the championship,” he said.
The game promises to be exciting, and there are a few surprises for the fans. The Culinary Institute of Canada will again provide a fantastic array of tailgate food, there will be a beer garden, and the Holland College Welshmen Community Pep Band will be in attendance.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
