Ready to hit the turf of Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park for spring camp, the University of Saskatchewan Huskie football team will get its first chance to test skills for the 2011 season.
Spring camp kicks off early Thursday morning with the 11th annual Dogs Breakfast at Prairieland Park and wraps up Sunday with the Green and White scrimmage. The Dogs Breakfast helps raise scholarship funds for the team. CFL legendary quarterback Damon Allen will be the quest speaker. At the event, Huskie head coach Brian Towriss will make an official announcement of 17 new recruits to the team.
The players will then hit the field that night at 6 p.m. in the first practice of the weekend. They suit up again at 5:30 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and finally 11 a.m. Sunday. All fans, supporters, alumni, family and friends are invited to attend any of the practices during the camp. The camp will feature around 98 returning Huskies, new recruits and walk-on players.
A full spring camp roster will be available soon.
