HWMFA peewee’s come to play: Eldridge, Masotti, Stanbury & DaSilva come up big

The Hamilton Wentworth Minor Football Association’s Peewee AAA Tiger-Cat team came to play this week.  Just 1 week after getting shut out by the Burlington Stampeders, the Tiger-Cats took out their frustration on the Guelph Bears.  Both teams came into the game without a win three weeks into the season, so something had to give.  The Bears won the coin flip and elected to receive the ball.  The Tiger-Cat defense quickly forced the Bears into a punting situation.  The kick was blocked by the punt return team and was picked up by Marcello DaSilva who proceeded to run the ball 38 yards into the end zone for the first score of the game.  The convert was kicked by  Sebastian Masotti , his first of 8 on the day.  On the offensive possession the Tiger-Cats struck quick with a Daniel Eldridge connecting with Masotti on a 17 yard touchdown pass.  Masotti passed to Braedon Schaefer for the successful convert.  Two more touchdowns by Dayvon Stanbury and Daniel Eldridge made the score 32-0 by the end of the first quarter for the hometown Tiger-Cats.

The second quarter saw Masotti, Eldridge and Stanbury each get their second touchdown of the game. By half-time the score was 54-0.  The second half of the game saw Hamilton rotate players in and out with touchdowns coming from Cody Hutchinson, Josh Seager and Dayvon Stanbury with his third of the game.

The final was 78-0, but the best part of the game was the Guelph players cheering each other on throughout the entire game.  With the win, the Tiger-Cats improve to 1-3 on the season.  Next up the host the Brantford Bisons for their final home game of the season at MacRae Fields.
