Representatives of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) will visit China next week to discuss the development of American football in three cities.
IFAF President TOMMY WIKING, IFAF Treasurer and USA Football Executive Director SCOTT HALLENBECK and IFAF Vice President DR K.K. PARK from the Korean federation will visit Beijing, Wuhu, and Shanghai. They will communicate with the American Football community in China, and meet with industry and government leaders to promote the development of the sport in China.
The trip coincides with the first collegiate American Football training camp ever held in China, which will consist of two days of training at the Wuhu Olympic Stadium where student athletes and local sports trainers will learn the foundations of the game on and off the field.
In March, IFAF appointed NATHAN JONES as its Country Administrator for China, making him responsible for overseeing the creation of a national governing body and establishing a development plan for youth and amateur American football in China.
“This initial trip will help IFAF to better define its strategy in the region to support grassroots participation in the sport at all levels,” said Jones. “These are exciting times for the sport in China and this visit will help to increase American football’s profile in China.”
IFAF is represented worldwide by 62 national federations of American football on six continents and is the Official American Football Development Partner of NFL International.
The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) unites 62 countries on six continents through a burgeoning international sport.
