OVFL: JV Lions spoil Warriors revenge

The JV Cambridge Lions knocked off the Mississauga Warriors in their playoff match, 45-13.

With the victory, the Lions move to the conference championship game.

Throughout the game, the Lions had an offensive explosion.

Quarterback Brayden Hill led the offense with 106 passing yards and a touchdown to go with his 20 yards on the ground with another score. Also OVFL All-Star running back, Alex Salytchev had two carries for 93 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Receiver George Monaghan IV registered 140 receiving yards, while scoring a touchdown.

Brandon Metz finished strong with 75 yards and a major.

Equally, the Lions defensive unit was solid.

Defensive linemen Clayton Collision had 6 combined tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery as well as returning the ball for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Safety Mitch Weiler and defensive back Cody Jones led the Lions with 7 combined tackles. Jones also caught an interception. Defensive back Sean Borkhoff also caught an interception while linebacker Brayden Ralph had 6 combined tackles.

On special teams, OVFL All-Star Kicker Nathan Mclean continued his productivity completing a 12 yard field goal to go with 367 yards of the kickoff with an average of 45.9 yards. He was 6 for 6 on PAT’s.
