Montreal , December 5, 2013 – Rumours have surfaced linking Danny Maciocia to the head coaching job for the CFLs Ottawa RedBlacks, but Maciocia would like to end the speculation.
Questioned by the media during a press conference where he took stock of the 2013 season a few weeks ago , Maciocia confirmed he would not join the Montreal Alouettes where positions of head coach and offensive coordinator were not yet filled for next season. In the heart of a major recruitment period at UdeM Maciocia insists once more on the continuation of his association with the Carabins .
“I know that my name is involved in all sorts of rumors, among other things because I know very many people in the CFL, but I ‘m going nowhere , either for a head coach or assistant” , said Maciocia .” The reality is that my name will probably continue to circulate, but it changes nothing.”
“At the risk of repeating myself, I love my job at UdeM and I see myself in the role for several years. This is the perfect place for me and my family and I have an excellent relationship with management Carabins that supports me at the highest point.”
“If the players we are recruiting are wondering about this, I want to make that clear: I ‘m the head coach of the Carabins and I will remain ,” says he who will be entering his fourth season at the helm of the Blues in 2014.
“With my coaching staff , we are already working hard to prepare for next season and we are very excited to bring the team to another level. ”
Danny Maciocia spent 14 years of his CFL career with the Alouettes and the Edmonton Eskimos with whom he won the Grey Cup twice . He is the only Quebecer to have been a head coach .
