HAMILTON, Ont. – For the second straight season the McMaster Marauders will have to face the Queen’s Gaels in their quest to win a Vanier Cup. Last season saw Queen’s beat McMaster 32-6 in Kingston in OUA semi-final play on its way to winning the national championship.

In 2010, McMaster enters the post season as the higher ranked team (3 [SUP] rd [/SUP] in OUA) and will host the Gaels (6 [SUP] th [/SUP] in OUA) this Saturday, October 30 with kick-off set for 1 p.m. at Ron Joyce Field. In conference play, McMaster opened this season with a 23-18 win over Queen’s on home field.
Coming off of its bye week, the Marauders hope to field a team that is closer to the one that started the year, with the return of several players that had been lost to injury. McMaster Coach Stefan Ptaszek is hopeful some key players will be back in uniform for the game with Queen’s, adding “Jordan Kozina and MacKenzie Dent are ready to play and we’re waiting to see on a couple of others.‘‘
The McMaster training and medical staff have had to work overtime this year due to an uncanny rash of injuries, but the upside has been increased playing opportunities for some of the back-ups and better overall depth as some of the injured have returned to the line-up.
