The City College of San Francisco football team showed why it was the preseason No. 1-ranked team in Northern California and the No. 2-ranked team in the state.

And it did it at the expense of the College of the Sequoias.

San Francisco cruised to a season-opening 51-7 victory over the Giants on Saturday afternoon in San Francisco.

It was an all-around team effort for the Rams as they outgained the Giants 519-125.

The Giants struggled to get anything going offensively, especially in the running game.
COS was held to just one-yard rushing.

Earl Rhodes, the former El Diamante star, led the team with 15 yards on five carries.
San Francisco did all of its damage through the air, racking up 381 yards.
Quarterback Steele Jantz was 26-of-41 passing for 330 yards and three touchdowns.
His favorite target was Natey Adjei, who caught 10 passes for 90 yards and a touchdown.
COS starting quarterback Phillip Brandt was accurate, completing 15-of-22 passes, but only for 124 yards. He was also pressured constantly in the backfield as he was sacked five times and threw a pair of interceptions.

He connected with running back Brant Botill for the team’s only score on a 15-yard pass in the third quarter.

San Francisco jumped out to the early lead with a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter.

The Rams added a safety in the second quarter to take a 16-0 lead into halftime.

The Rams poured it on in the fourth quarter, scoring 28 points.

COS (0-1) will look to get on the winning track with its first home game of the season against Foothill at 1 p.m. Saturday.
