OFC BANTAM SOUTH

The Hamilton Bantam South squad squeaked by the Chatham Kent Cougars 21-20 to punch their ticket to their first ever OFC Bantam Final. Juwuan Smith led the way for the Cats with touchdown runs of 8, 1 and 21 yards while Sebastien Mella added two converts and Jaylen Smith booted a 25 yard punt single. Darion Bacik Hadden led Cougars with a pair of 1 yard touchdown plunges with Nakoma Scott catching a 24 scoring pass from Evan Torres for Cougars other major. Quinton Emerick booted two converts for Chatham Kent. Bacik Hadden’s second major with 1:14 remaining drew Chatham Kent to within one, but the ensuing convert was blocked to preserve the Cats win.

OFC BANTAM NORTH

Donavin Milloy scored the only major for the Bantam North side as they were defeated 41-6 by the Vaughan Rebels in the North Division Bantam Final. Matt Faria led the winners with two majors while single scores were recorded by Anthony Longo, Michael Klano, Maelik Graciano and Raheem Lindsay. Adam Castellano added 5 converts for Rebels who advance to their first ever OFC Bantam Final.

The OFC Summer Varsity Finals will be played at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University this coming Saturday, August 13th. The Bantam South Cats will face Vaughan for the second time this season as both squads are participating in their first Bantam Championship contest. Back on July 3rd in a crossover game, Cats prevailed 47-13. Kick off time is 11:00 am. As noted above, the Varsity Tiger Cats move on to the Varsity Final for the third time in four years. Their opponent, the Sudbury Gladiators, are trying to complete a Cinderella story as the 4th place finishers in the North, they knocked off the 1st place finishers Toronto Jr. Argos 15-6 and then travelled to Peterborough and upended the Wolverines 21-19 to advance to their first ever Varsity Final. This contest commences with a 6:00 pm kickoff.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
