The Ontario Football Conference has announced Week 2 Junior Players of the Week:
Offensive Player of the Week:
Quarterback #11 Austin Lumley – Windsor AKO Fratmen
Leading his Windsor AKO Fratmen teammates to a hard-fought victory over the Ottawa Sooners by a score of 22-17, QB #11 Austin Lumley had an outstanding day as he went 11 for 20 on passing with a grand total of 271 yards (long 64) and two touchdown passes, earning him the honours of Week 2 OFC Offensive Player of the Week. Austin is only 19-years old and is currently a first year player with the AKO Fratmen. According to the Fratmen organization, Austin really showed his competitive spirit against Ottawa by coming back into the game after a shaky start to lead his team to a come-from-behind victory. Austin’s confidence is never shaken, and it seems to be a quality that is rubbing off on his teammates.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Linebacker #52 Félix Pelletier – St. Leonard Cougars
Helping his St. Leonard Cougars defeat the London Beefeaters by a score of 25-18, LB #52 Félix Pelletier had an outstanding performance on defense and earned himself a whopping 22 points in the process. With five tackles and four QB sacks, Félix’s performance earned him the honour of Week 2 OFC Defensive Player of the Week. Félix is only 18-years old and is currently playing in his first season with the Cougars. According to the Cougars organization, Félix is one of their most promising rookies this year, and the defensive line is very happy to have him.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Wide Receiver #10 Jean-Jacques Janvier Jr. – St. Leonard Cougars
Sparking his St. Leonard Cougars to narrowly defeat the London Beefeaters by a score of 25-18, WR #10 Jean-Jacques Janvier Jr. had another spectacular week, particularly on kick-off return, where he had two carries for a combined total of 138 yards and a long of 105, which resulted in a momentum-shifting and ultimately game-winning touchdown, earning Jean-Jacques the honour of Week 2 OFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Jean-Jacques is only 18-years old and is a first year player with the Cougars. According to the Cougars organization, Jean-Jacques’ prior playing experience in the CEGEP is what has really helped him to carve his spot on the Cougars roster among the veteran players.
