The OFC Game of the Week turned into a one sided affair as the heated rivalry between the Hamilton Hurricanes and Burlington Braves finished in a 48-12 victory for the Canes.
Offensively the Hurricanes tallied 438 yards and three different players threw touchdown passes. Kyle Sewell would complete 11 of 19 for 187 yards and a touchdown. Denzel Rocha was four of eight for 33 yards and a major, and the only pass receiver Cory Raposo threw was a 40 yard touchdown strike.
Andrin Massotti would catch a game high eight balls for 143 yards and Raposo’s 40 yard touchdown. Matt Coates hauled in four passes for 53 yards and a major, while Raposo caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown.
On the Hurricanes ground assault was led by Triston Williams who carried 12 times for 93 yards while Jake Reddick rushed 11 times for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively the Canes would score two touchdowns, both on fumble recoveries. Jake Testani walked in from 16 yards out, while Farouk Musa rumbled 18 yards after picking up a loose ball. Melvin Baughan recorded the lone sack and Jacob Barry led the club with four tackles.
On Saturday the Hurricanes (3-0) will visit the Windsor AKO Fratmen (3-0) in a battle of the undefeated teams at 7:00pm at Windsor Stadium.
The Burlington Braves didn’t get much offense going collecting just 185 yards.
Quarterback Mickey Trumper finished 12 of 26 for 138 yards. He would find six different receivers as Tyler Bistrovitch caught two passes for a team high 48 yards. Jesse Benson made three catches for 36 yards.
Alex McFarlene rushed 10 times for 54 yards to lead the Braves on the ground.
Kicker Kosta Krajisink was a perfect 2-2 in field goal attempts.
The only other scoring came from defensive back Steve Connery who would recover a fumble and return it 65 yards to the end zone for the Braves lone major. Tyler Garland also picked off a pass for the visitors. Joey Christian would lead the Braves with five solo tackles, while Tevin Missen recorded the lone sack.
The Braves (1-2) will host the Ottawa Sooners (0-3) on Saturday night.

Like Hamilton, the Windsor AKO Fratmen would remain perfect on the season after a 30-20 victory over the visiting St. Leonard Cougars.
The Fratmen Special Teams and defense would propel them to victory as the offense would sputter gaining just 171 yards.
Fratmen returner Austin Crumb would have a career game returning not only a punt, but a kickoff too for touchdowns. He would return four punts for 171 yards, including an 85 yarder for a major, as well as an 86 yard kickoff return for a score.
Defensively the Fratmen would force five Cougar turnovers, as well as record five sacks. Mason Beekhuis, Jeremiah Hamilton, Charles Johnson and Josh Wright all picked off passes while Tyler Bremner recovered a fumble. Linebacker Joe Iatzko would lead the club with six solo tackles while Beekhuis had five stops and a sack. Anthony Mcdonald tallied two sacks.
Offensively quarterback Austin Lumley finished just nine of 19 for 89 yards. He would also rush six times for 16 yards, but scored two touchdowns.
Three different receivers would catch passes while Brigham Robinson carried the rock 19 times for 71 yards.
The Fratmen (3-0) will host the Hamilton Hurricanes (3-0) on Saturday at Windsor Stadium.
The St. Leonard Cougars would fall for the first time this season despite outgaining the Fratmen 242-171.
Quarterback Nicolas Lepine would finish 12 of 24 for 170 yards, but was held without a touchdown and threw four interceptions. He would use his legs to great success rushing eight times, and scoring two touchdowns. Duqueslin Pierre-Louis rumbled 16 times for 42 yards to lead the Cougars.
Moy McDonald would make a game high four catches for 84 yards while Jean-Jacques Jr. Janvier hauled in three passes for 41 yards.
Janvier would also lead the Cougars Special Teams returning five punts including a 54 yarder to the end zone for a touchdown.
The Cougars defense was led by Cedrick Legros who made seven tackles, had a sack and a knockdown. Louis Marandola recorded four tackles and the lone turnover as he recovered a fumble. Felix Pelletier and Wendy Ulysse also had sacks.
This Saturday the Cougars (2-1) will host the GTA Bears (0-3).
The defending champion London Beefeaters picked up their first win of the season with a 30-27 victory over the Ottawa Sooners.
Offensively the Beefs dominated outgaining the Sooners 487-245 in total yardage. Quarterback Josh Beach finished 20 of 31 for 370 yards and threw two touchdown passes. His favourite target was Josh Woodman who made a game high nine catches for 123 yards and a score. Aaron Stora-Nelson hauled in seven passes for 119 yards and a major.
On the ground the Beefs pounded the ball six different carriers. Avery Lawrence had nine carries for 46 yards and Nick Morassut rushed eight times for 38 yards. Joel Clubine would score the only major on the ground.
Kicker Carmine Gentile would hit three of four field goals to add to the scoring.
Defensively the Beefeaters would record two takeaways as Derek Coleman picked off a pass and Nick Matsoukas recovered a fumble. Both Jess Tonn and Emmanuel Appiah Kubi each had five tackles to lead the club. Waseem Ghozayel tallied the lone sack.
The Beefeaters (1-2) will travel to Windsor to take on the Predators (2-1) on Saturday night.
For the second straight year the Ottawa Sooners have started the season with three straight losses. The offense would compile just 245 yards as two quarterbacks combined for just six completions. Matt Levasseur was the better of the two QBs finishing five of 13 for 98 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Nick Shank.
On the ground the Sooners were led by Mathew Mondoux who compiled 73 yards on 11 carries. Carl Bernade chipped in with nine carries for 35 yards.
The most exciting player on the field for the Sooners was Cody Valle. He would return a punt 96 yards to the house for one of his two touchdowns. He would also return a blocked field goal 66 yards for a major. Kicker Graham Kelly was a perfect two for two in field goal attempts.
The Sooners defense would force three turnovers as Valle, Prenel Cave and Nicolas Lortie would intercept passes. Cave would also lead the club with seven tackles, while Joel Tembo recorded the lone sack.
On Saturday the Sooners (0-3) will travel to Burlington for a date with the Braves (1-2).
It took overtime but Predators Football would break the hearts of the GTA Bears with a 26-25 victory.
Predators’ quarterback Jonathan Beitz would complete 10 of 25 passes for 252 yards and threw two touchdowns. His favourite target was Karsten Beney who finished with a Conference high 191 yards on seven catches, and would haul in both TD passes. Beitz would also lead the Predators on the ground with 17 carries for 44 yards.
Kicker Nate Mesher would hit all four field goal attempts and would tally 14 of their 26 points.
The Predators defense would force two turnovers as Brandon Seip and Jono Carreiro picked off passes. Carreiro would also lead the club with six tackles.
On Saturday the Predators (2-1) will host the London Beefeaters (1-2) at 7:30pm.
For the GTA Bears they would put together their best game of the year, outgaining the Preds with 348 total offensive yards.
Quarterback Abraham Shah was terrific finishing 11 of 18 for 290 yards and threw four touchdown passes. He would find Justin Pritchard four times for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Craig and Toi Simon would both catch three balls and a touchdown.
Craig would also carry 13 times for 34 yards to lead the Bears.
Defensively the Bears were led by Kevin Bailey and his seven tackles. Brodrick Martin also had a big game with six stops. The lone Bears turnover was forced by Jason Agyey who picked off a pass.
The Bears (0-3) will travel to Montreal for a date with the St. Leonard Cougars (2-1) on Saturday night.
