AJ Stewart has had three years of football experience with from Grade 11 to Grade 12+ with the Ridgeway-Crystal Beach High School (RCBHS) Blue Devils.
“My goals with the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) are to get reps, competition and experience while learning from experienced coaches,” said AJ.
During the offseason, the quarterback trains with local volunteer coaches along with some of his teammates.
He also volunteers with a local minor football team as an assistant/quarterback coach.
Moreover, on the field AJ’s role model is Calvin George Nigh because he also from Ridgeway and pursued a dream to play in the CIS.
Calvin ended up playing for Guelph and was a Ted Wildman Memorial Trophy recipient in 1990.
Calvin eventually returned to Ridgeway as a coach and was AJ’s for a season before his passing in 2014.
“He was the reason I decided to play football and the one who taught me that there’s more to football than what happens inside the white lines,” said the Blue Devil.
“I love to play football because it’s a great team game and it brings many people together unlike any other sport due to the large roster size,” commented AJ.
