OVFL: Guelph Varsity Bears now 2-2 following impressive win

The Bears Defensive showed up to play with an impressive 3 INTS which lead them to Win 24-13 against the Cornwall Wildcats this past Saturday.

Bear’s Defence was once again the story of the game, on four occasions the wildcats made 4th down attempts and the Bears shut them down every time. Add to that a commanding six sacks (By: Stew Vandermade, Emin Spahic, Pat Bishop and Ryan Burnham) and a dominating three interceptions with a 41 yard return for a Touchdown (Nick Parisotto TD, Alex Lacelle Int and Jacob Ingram Int). The Bears defensive line was in the back field all game reeking havoc and now allowing the wildcats office to get any kind of a rhythm. This was defiantly enough to put the Bears into the victory column.

The Bear have 12 interceptions on the season to date.

The Bears office also proved impressive, the Jet system that was put into place at the start of the season is starting to come together and is now bearing fruits. Jonny Beitz(QB) connected with Sean Young(WR) repeatedly for 143yrds and a TD. Beits had 221 yards passing. Breaden Gorgi had an impressive performance at RB with 70 yards and a Touchdown and Dan Tessari rush for another 60 yards for the Bears.

Head Coach Jeremy Macleod was happy with his teams performance but said they need to play more disciplined football and “It was a big win for us… Our offense is starting to move the ball, but still is not running on full cylinders, when they do it will be something to watch… now its time to prepare for a very touch Essex ravens team.”

Junior Varsity

The Junior Bears enjoyed their Bye-week this week, and took the time to get back to fundamentals and allow some of their injured player’s time to recover. The Junior Bears are also playing Essex this week and have taken the extra time to prepare for Essex running game and to devise and effective plan of attack.

The Junior Bears are 1-2.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
