At 2-0 the Varsity Ironmen entered week 3 with a home match up against the 1-1 Guelph Bears. The Ironmen came out flat possessing no real sense of urgency. Combine that with Guelph’s CFL style spread and six pack offence the Bears were able to move the ball and strangle the Ironmen to a 0-0 score after the first quarter. However it only took a few adjustments and some motivation before the Ironmen were rolling on all cylinders much like their previous contests.
Offensively, QB Alex Hill lead the charge hurling a TD pass to Andrew Shultz and eluding defenders all game. Relief QB Denzel Rocha also connected with Shultz for a late major. Once again it was RB by committee with all ball carriers contributing to the cause highlighted by TD runs by Quinn Newman and Ryan Silvestri.

It was no surprise that LB Joe Richardson played sideline to sideline picking up sacks causing fumbles and even scoring an offensive TD. Bourgeios, Johnson, and Tourloukis all picked up INTs to assist the “Iron Curtain” in their dominance. Bellardini added a field goal and when it was all over the Ironmen went to 3-0 with a 38-7 win.

“We are improving week to week and are learning how to be unselfish as a team… Things are only going to get better” stated coach Underhill. Ironmen travel to Mississauga next Saturday.
