OVFL: Metro Toronto squeaks by Etobicoke in triple OT win

On Saturday evening, another battle in the animal kingdom ensued. The Metro Toronto Wildcats hit the road for a showdown against the Eagles from Etobicoke. Biology proved to be the difference maker as the Cat showed its timeless dominance over the Bird.

Thanks to Kyle Wrights rouge punt in the triple overtime, The Wildcats ran away with the 50-49 win. The two teams combined to score 99 points in an old fashioned shootout.

The offensive clinic put on by both teams had Varsity Wildcat head coach Frank Panos bubbling with excitement.

“What a game”, Panos exclaimed. “I don’t think you can get better entertainment anywhere in Toronto or Ontario for that matter on a Saturday night for five bucks.”

Star running back Travis Jennings, who coming into week four had already amassed almost 300 yards from scrimmage and 3 TD’s, was once again the difference maker against Etobicoke. Jennings came up huge in the passing game, as well as on the ground finding pay dirt three times.

Wide Receivers Kyle Wright, Omari Archibald and Malcolm Carter each hooked up with Quarterback Nikko Stamatis for a touchdown a piece. Week after week, the Wildcats dynamic passing attack is proving to be one of the best in the OVFL.

Defensive Lineman Fardin Gadjeiv was one of the lone bright spots on defense for the Wildcats as both teams offense dictated the flow of the game.

The Wildcats look to improve to 4-1 and continue their reign at the top of the food chain this Saturday against the Pickering Dolphins at Esther Shiner Stadium.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
