The Niagara Junior Varsity Spears team is looking very strong, being led by their fearless leader Brian Duguay and the rest of the very well qualified coaches. The offensive squad will be in good hands with second year offensive coordinator Brian Fortier at the reins.
Along with Fortier the offensive side will have Jake Maxwell as QB coach, Mark Fortier as RB coach, and Tim Hough with Zack Duguay as OL coach. Behind this group of men I believe the spears will be able to go very far as long as the players pay attention and work hard every day like they have been thus far. Mack Jones at running back for the spears is fearless and fights for every down. Very good listener and out there too learn. Scouts should start watching for this kid now. Kurt Katool is explosive and has great hands and is willing to do whatever for the team to win.
Defensively the young men will be led by Tom Dagenais. Dagenais has been with this team as far back as when I played and the only word I can think of for this great man is. Awesome!!!! He gets the guys going. Dagenais is in it to make the players better and to turn them from boys to men. He taught me how to play the game with intensity and no fear. If anyone can turn a defence into a relentless beast it’s this man. On defence the Spears have beasts like Eli Sacco and Connor Warnock at the linebacker position. They hit hard and hit fast. As long as they keep on coming up and getting better every day, they will have a very successful season.
The Junior Varsity spears are strong again just as they are every year and will be coming into their first game against Mississauga with a bite. They want this win, they need this win and crave this win. Mississauga always has a strong team and you always want to be the team to give them their first loss. Come out this Saturday May 26[SUP]th[/SUP] at Mississauga to see a game that will be full of big hits and big plays. Thanks for reading, come cheer your Niagara Junior Varsity Spears on to a victory.
