Peterborough Wolverines (OFC) win first ever game over Stallions (video)


Before approximately 150 fans at Lakefield District Secondary School Saturday the bantam (U15) Peterborough Wolverines defeated the visiting Huronia Stallions 21-8. It was the Wolverines inaugural summer league game. The Wolverines, down 8-6 at the half, made some defensive and offensive adjustments and as a result did the only scoring of the 2nd half and took home the victory.

First Half

Scoring first for the Wolverines on a 10-yard run was quarterback Patrick Pearson (convert missed). The Stallions countered when Quarterback Brad Geurgis hit receiver Colton Sansom for a four-yard scoring strike on a fourth-down gamble ( convert – holder Brandon Boomhower found Sansom again on a broken play in the end zone for the two-points).

Second Half

Running back Braden Frise ran in touchdown from four yards out and Pearson scampered in for the two-point conversion to make it 14-8. In the final minutes of the fourth quarter Frise ran in a 35-yard touchdown (Francis Laffier kicked convert)
