Team Quebec defeats Saskatchewan, to gold medal game for the third consecutive year
Moncton, July 18, 2013 – At Rocky Stone Field in Moncton Team Quebec won their first game by a score of 40-6 against Saskatchewan, thus earning a spot in the final of the Football Canada Cup to defend their two consecutive titles won in 2011 and 2012.

Saskatchewan scored the first touchdown of the game early in the first quarter, but Quebec quickly caught them with a 33 yard field goal by William Pettersen (# 29, Blizzard Saint Seminar Francis) and a touchdown from Mathieu Bouchard (# 4, Séminaire Saint-François), an interception by Philippe Goudreau (# 9, Wolves Curé-Antoine-Labelle) that set up the second Pettersen field goal. Adam Auclair (# 28, Dragons of Beauce) had an interception for a touchdown and a great kickoff return by Mikael Piché-Ayotte (# 1 Wolves Curé-Antoine-Labelle) set up a third Pettersen field goal for a score of 23-6 at halftime.
Saskatchewan scored no points in the second half, but Marc-Antoine Pivin (# 12, owls Triolet) grabbed the ball in the end zone to score the third touchdown for Team Quebec and Pettersen made another field goal to widen the gap. A touchdown by Samuel St-Maurice (# 16 Golden Eagles Dalbé-Viau) closed out the scoring giving Quebec a 40-6 victory.
Team Quebec will play Alberta Sunday July 21 at 19 h 30 (18: 30 pm, Eastern time ) and defend the title. It is a rematch of the last two finals, last year Quebec winning 21-11 to claim the gold medal.
