Ravens clip Bulldogs

OVFL:  Junior Varsity Ravens down Bulldogs, head to Conference Championship

The Junior Essex Ravens were determined not to lose to Brampton Bulldogs once again in the playoffs. After exiting the playoffs at the hands of the Bulldogs last year, the Ravens had payback on their mind.

The two teams battled it out throughout the first quarter, but the Ravens were able to build some momentum and take a 7-0 lead on a Jalen Jackson touchdown.

The Ravens would score early in the second quarter once again on a Jackson touchdown, but the extra point would be blocked to give the Ravens a 13-0 lead.  After a Bulldogs touchdown to cut the lead to 13-7, Ravens quarterback Jake Faubert connected with Chris Tannous for a touchdown, thus increasing the lead to 20-7.

Off the opening kickoff, Tannous would take the kick, and go 70 yards for a touchdown and give the Ravens a 27-7 lead.  That lead was short lived as the Bulldogs answered to cut the deficit to 27-14. Matthieu Pickens would score shortly after to increase the lead to 34-14, but once again the Bulldgos answered right back to cut the deficit to 34-21 at the end of the third.

Throughout the fourth quarter, the teams would repeatedly trade touchdowns. The Ravens jumped ahead 41-21, but a touchdown by the Bulldogs soon after cut the gap to 41-28. Another touchdown pass by quarterback Jake Faubert increased the lead to 48-28 but Brampton answered right back to cut the lead to 48-35, but that would be as close as they would get.

The Ravens will now go on to play the Cambridge Lions on Saturday August 10th for the Adams Conference Championship. Game time is at 3:00 pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
