Montreal, January 18, 2015 – RSEQ honored the best student athletes from its Juvenile Division 1 and 1B at the annual banquet was held at the Levis Convention and Exhibition Center.
The emcee was Mathieu Bertrand, former-color commentator for Université Laval and the Edmonton Eskimos. More than 100 student athletes took part in the event.
Notre Dame running back François Rocheleau was named Juvenile Division 1 MVP. During the season, he has illustrated why he’s earned the honour by playing at the the tailback, wide receiver, returner and kicker positions with accuracy and precision. He has accumulated 1,380 yards on 158 carries allowing him to score 17 touchdowns. Rocheleau also added 12 receptions for 156 yards and scored two majors.
Cure Antoine Labelle Wolves defensive lineman, Axel Etienne Yanibada was named Lineman of the Year. He registered 36 tackles, including 17 for losses, two sacks, one interception and a knockdown.
Notre Dame Cactus linebacker Bruno Lagacé was named Defensive Player of the Year. During the season, he established himself on the ground and on the attack. He sat atop in the league standings with 66 solo tackles and 67 assisted tackles for a total of 99.5 tackles.
Cure Antoine Labelle Wolves Benjamin Stone won the Offensive Player of the Year. At the quarterback position, he had 99 completions in 167 attempts for 1768 passing yards. He managed 23 passing touchdowns in addition to throwing only two interceptions. He also accumulated 565 rushing yards on 52 carries for four rushing touchdowns.
Jacques Rousseau Sphinx quarterback William Renaud Dumoulin was named Rookie of the Year. He had an extraordinary year for a first-year player, as evidenced by his statistics: 149 completions on 281 pass attempts for a total of 10 touchdowns. In addition, he ran 71 times for gains of 497 yards and six touchdowns.
Saint-Jean-Eudes Condors won both Organization of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year.
College Jean-Eudes Eagles were rewarded in Excellence in Sports Ethics.
This year, Curé-Antoine-Labelle Wolves won the Bol d’Or and the regular season.
Division 1-b:
Pointe-Lévy Cosaires received attention by winning Organization of the Year and Coaching Team of the Year while the Laval Liberty Panthers was awarded Excellence in Sports Ethics.
Pointe Levy Corsaires quarterback Edward Lajoie was named MVP. He completed 115 of 189 passes for 1,701 passing yards and 19 touchdowns in addition to accumulating 473 yards on 43 carries and 12 touchdowns.
The offensive lineman Philippe Robitaille, High School Pointe-Lévy, was named Lineman of the Year. Excelling on gaming floor as well as the pass, he helped his team earn an average of 213 passing yards and an impressive total of 395 rushing yards for an average of 608 yards per game. In addition, it was able to open the way for a total of 74 touchdowns this season, including 55 on the ground.
Dalbe Viau Aigles Or defensive lineman Kevin Teran Flores was named Defensive Player of the Year. He led Division 1B with 82 solo tackles and 39 assisted tackles for a total of 101.5 tackles.
Pointe-Levy Corsaires Samuel Cameron was named Offensive Player of the Year. He distinguished himself in scoring with 1,107 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in only seven games and 90 carries. This explosive student-athlete managed 18 carries that were over 20 rushing yards during the season.
The Rookie of the Year was awarded to Charles-Lemoyne Dynamics Kevin Mital. His stats (32 receptions, 897 yards, average of 28 yards per reception and 15 touchdowns) demonstrate that he has been an impact player.
Finally, Pointe Lévy had a perfect season by not only going undefeated during in the regular season and winning the provincial Juvenile Division 1B Championship,
