The 12th annual RSEQ juvenile awards banquet for Divisions 1 and 1b was recently held at the St-Jean-Eudes high school. Honorary president Mathieu Proulx, colour commentator of the Montreal Alouettes and Laval Rouge et Or with RDS, delivered an inspiring speech. Highlighting the performance of student-athletes in the province, there were more than ninety prizes were awarded in the following categories: MVPs, all-star teams, student-athletes of excellence, organizational and Coaches of the Year . The Saint-François Seminary had a number of student-athletes winners and also won the trophy Jacques Gauthier which is given to the regular season champions.
In Division 1, Mathieu Bouchard of Saint-François was named MVP of the Year. Also Saint-François Alexandre Pare and Jean Philippe Hudon were awarded best lineman and best defensive player respectively. Edward Montemiglio of Jean-Eudes Eagles was named best offensive player while Vincent Harvey of St. Louis Arsenal was named rookie of the year. Saint-François Seminary has also won awards for the organization and coaches of the year.
In Division 1b, Patrick Serre of Pointe-Lévy won MVP honors of the year. Tristan Marchand-Lamothe and Jeremiah Bellot-Hébert, both of St. Joseph Seminary were named defensive player and offensive player of the year respectively. Pierre-Luc Crete of Estacades Academy was named lineman of the year, while the Rookie of the Year honors went to Felix Léger, also of Estacades Academy. St. Joseph Seminary Green and Gold was appointed by organization excellence and Estacades Academy received the award for coaching staff of the year.
