Second year quarterback Jérémi Roch led the Vert & Or to a record setting 46-point performance on Friday night in a 46-14 win over the McGill Redmen at Percival Molson Stadium. The 2011 RSEQ rookie-of-the year completed 19 of the 32 passes he attempted for 340 yards and a career high four touchdowns in the victory. His longest pass of the night was a 62-yard touchdown strike to receiver Sébastien Blanchard midway through the first quarter to put Sherbrooke up 10-0. He hooked up once again with Blanchard 3:50 into the second quarter on a 21-yard touchdown toss that gave Sherbrooke a lead that they would never surrender. Jean-Samuel Blanc dominated on the defensive line in the Carabins’ 48-10 win over the Concordia Stingers on Friday night, recording 5.5 tackles including four quarterback sacks and a fumble recovery. The second year arts and science student recorded sacks on three consecutive plays, spanning a pair of Concordia possessions, in the second quarter. He capped the evening off with a key fourth quarter sack of Reid Quest stopping a Stingers drive at the Montreal 26 yard line, as Concordia would miss a 33-yard field goal attempt on the next play. The four sacks rank third all-time in RSEQ single game annals behind former Carabin Jonathan Pierre-Étienne who had 4.5 sacks against Laval in 2011 and Jason Manzano of McGill who dropped the Bishop’s field general 5 times in a game back in 2003.

McGill kick returner Yannick Langelier-Vanasse compiled a game-high 159 all-purpose yards, including 107 on six kickoff returns, 40 on a pair of punt returns and 12 more on a reception. His KO return total was more than the entire McGill team had in eight of their nine games last year.
