St. Francis Xavier has started their 2011 recruiting class with a bang. Ottawa Sooner (other teams include Cumberland Panthers, Canterbury Mustangs & St. Patrick’s) running back Ashton Dickson has committed to travel east and attend university at St. Francis Xavier. Ashton was a 3-time player of the week in 2010 in the Ontario Football Conference. Both Ashton and Coach Waterman are very happy with the decision and had this to say:
Coach Waterman:
“This is exciting for us. We believe that Ashton is one of the premier running backs in the country. We think this is a great fit, and we look forward to announcing the rest of the 2011 recruiting class in the near future.”
Ashton:
“I chose St. FX for many reasons, the main reason being because the school is built for success. It feels like all I can do is study for school and become excellent at football. Also because the coaching staff is amazing and not many schools offer the off-season training like St. FX does.”
In 2010 Ashton played for conference finalist Ottawa Sooners (fall) and league finalists Cumberland Panthers (summer). His Cumberland stats were:
88 carries 553 yards 58 long 32 first downs 8 touchdowns 6.3 average
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
