Still winless

OVFL:  Varsity Sabrecats trumped by Raiders

The Sault Ste Marie Sabrecats are still in search of a win.

The Sabrecats lost to the Markham Raiders 37-20 this past weekend in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

Raiders pivot Eric Kimmerly had three touchdown passes and ran into the end zone for a major to lead the team to victory.  Marcus Akarakas, Ryan Brazier, Athen Neale and Nicholas Morassut  each tallied  markers for the Raiders.

Defensively, Ray Duplin registered four solo and four assisted tackles.

Running back Stevan Hiiemaa amassed 104 rushing yards on 22 carries and had a 12 yard catch for the Sabrecats.  Receiver Sean McGonigal scored two 23 yard majors in the loss while David Toppan had a one yard touchdown catch.

The 0-6 Sabrecats will host the Halton Cowboys on Saturday July 13th, 2013.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
