Cambridge native Robin Petrie will be taking his skills to a new home.

Robin began his football career at the age of 12, with the Cambridge Lions. It wasn’t long before he began to make an impact with the Lions. Robin has received many awards for his play, resulting in a special teams MVP, 2 defensive MVP and a team MVP. In addition, Robin has also garnered an OVFL all star selection in his career with the Lions.
Once Robin entered high school and began his play for the Saints. He has been awarded the defensive MVP, for every season he has suited up with the Lions. Also
He has also been named part of the Golden Horseshoe Rising Stars these past two seasons.
Also, Robin has twice been named St. Benedict’s athlete of the year.
However, for Robin the most memorable moment of his career would a championship game.
“My most memorable experience playing football was in 2010 when my team, Cambridge lions went to the western OVFL championship at the Rogers Center. I broke my hand at the time but still played with a cast on my hand. The opening kickoff they kicked it right to me and I caught it with the cast. Also had a good game too,” said Robin.
Luckily, for Robin he could find inspiration was in his first coach; John Dunham.
“He’s the one who was the first to coach me and did for several years. He was one of those guys who always mentioned that football wasn’t everything and school was important too. He always keeps in touch and helped bring me towards university,” said Robin.
In the future, Robin has committed to becoming a Gryphon in the fall.
“I am attending university of Guelph in September,” said Robin.
