Two-time Grey Cup champ signs on to lead Blues DBs

The Varsity Blues football program is pleased to announce that former Toronto Argonaut, Jordan Younger, has signed on as the team’s defensive backs coach for the 2014 campaign.

Younger is reunited with former Argos teammate and Blues defensive coordinator Kevin Eiben to help guide a much improved defesive unit.

“Jordan has a tremendous amount of playing experience, both in the CFL and at the collegiate level,” said Varsity Blues head coach Greg Gary. “Teaming up with his former teammate, in a system that they’ve both played in, is a natural fit. He understands what it takes to play university football and what it takes to coach and get our student-athletes to the next level. His leadership and knowledge of the game will be valuable assets for Coach Eiben and our defensive crew.”

Younger played nine years in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and all but one in Toronto. He is a two-time league all-star (2005, 2007) and a two-time Grey Cup champion – the first in his rookie season (2004) and most recently as the defensive captain of the 100th Grey Cup champion Argos (2012). He amassed 408 tackles, 19 interceptions, two touchdowns and four fumble recoveries.

A product of the University of Connecticut, Younger spent time in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Redskins as well as NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire and Amsterdam Admirals before finding his way to the CFL.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
